When a factory discharges wastewater, it is necessary to measure the flow rate, and electromagnetic flowmeters are typically used for this purpose. Why are electromagnetic flowmeters preferred for measuring wastewater?

  1. The wastewater electromagnetic flowmeter is a volumetric flow measurement instrument that is unaffected by the temperature, viscosity, density, or electrical conductivity (within a certain range) of the measured medium. Consequently, after calibration with water, it can be used to measure the flow rate of other conductive liquids.

  2. Electromagnetic flowmeters have no mechanical inertia, exhibit rapid response, and can measure both instantaneous pulsating flow rates and bidirectional flow in either direction.

  3. It can measure the flow rate of corrosive media as well as suspended solid–liquid two-phase flows. The pipeline is lined with PTFE and equipped with a variety of corrosion‑resistant electrodes; only the liner and electrodes come into contact with the fluid being measured. The materials can be selected according to the properties of the fluid, enabling measurement of various corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts.

  4. Media containing solid particles can be measured over extended periods, thanks to the wear‑resistant rubber lining, making this instrument particularly well suited for measuring liquid–solid two‑phase flows with high abrasive content—such as mineral slurries and cement slurries—as well as various fibrous liquids and suspended suspensions like pulp.

  5. The electromagnetic flowmeter for wastewater is a volumetric flow measurement instrument that is unaffected by the temperature, viscosity, density, or electrical conductivity (within a certain range) of the measured medium. Consequently, after calibration with water, it can be used to measure the flow rate of other conductive liquids.

  6. The output of an electromagnetic flowmeter is directly proportional to the average flow velocity of the measured medium and is independent of the flow regime—whether laminar or turbulent—under symmetric flow conditions.

  7. The sensor features a simple internal pipeline structure, with no obstructive components and no throttling elements that impede fluid flow. When measuring wastewater containing impurities or entangling substances, it can provide reliable long-term measurements.

  8. Industrial wastewater electromagnetic flowmeters have a wide range of nominal diameters.
